The “speedway” was a favorite Sunday might event for the area “thrill seekers”. Stock car racing became a part of life in the 1950’s. Built in a natural hollow on land located on Old Highway 51 in Arbor Vitae the venue had bleachers and a concession stand. The track was protected by a concreate wall. “Junkers” and “clunkers” were converted to stock cars and decorated by their individual drivers.
