Old Bill was Woodruff’s town pet. The white horse belonged to, A. Kahn, owner of the general store. Old Bill pulled the delivery wagon and a large sleigh in the winter. He always demanded a treat at every stop–a carrot, apple, sugar cube, etc. All the children loved him. When Old Bill died in 1912 at the age of 30 the school at Woodruff closed so the children could attend his funeral. The mitts shown are from his fur.
